ELIGIBILITY

To live in state assisted elderly/disabled public housing, you must be at least 60 years old. If you are a person under 60 with a disability, you must meet certain criteria to be eligible for state housing for disabled persons. We do not have family or Section 8 Housing at the Dighton Housing Authority.

You must complete an application and then be placed on a wait list that is kept by the Department of Housing and Community Development CHAMP System.  When your name is nearing the top of the wait list, the Authority will contact you.  Priority/Preference are given to qualified applicants.

Preference is given to a Dighton veteran, spouse of a veteran, a Dighton resident or an employee who works in Dighton.

Income limits

There are income limits to be considered eligible for Massachusetts public housing. This includes income from assets, savings, checking, CD’s, stocks, bonds, IRA’s, 401k’s, trusts, real estate, owned or rented.  These limits are:

     1 person –   $62,550

     2 persons – $71,500

Items which may adjust income are: Excessive medical expenses, medical co-pays, health insurance premiums, prescriptions, dental & vision expenses.

Applications are being accepted for apartments at Lincoln Village, (housing for the elderly/disabled).

Applications

To apply for state-aided public housing, you must use the Common Housing Application for Massachusetts Public Housing (CHAMP). You can apply using CHAMP either online at the CHAMP website, or in person by completing a printed paper application. Both the online and paper applications are available in English, Chinese, Haitian Creole, Khmer, Portuguese, Russian, Spanish and Vietnamese.
